Tournament-level masterpiece lure

The LOT masterpiece BT (Butterfly Top) series. Crafted by Satoshi Shioze, a craftsman who wants to catch more than anyone, this BT series is loved by anglers in Japan and around the world. In 2002, this BT series was modeled as an injection lure for the first founding of IMAKATSU, and it has become popular with more anglers.

BT history

BT (Butterfly Top) was born in Lake Biwa in 1988. At that time, minnows were mainly industrial ones, "design that is different from Japanese aesthetics" and "fishing under the water". As a result, I was not satisfied with the lure's design, and the fish I had bite ran wild in the water and was wary of the school. From that experience, I started to explore "crafty design that takes advantage of Japanese aesthetics, sustaining the bite with minimal alertness to the school, and realistic fish movements." In other words, it's a fusion of design and functionality.

Fusion of design and functionality

"What is the artistic design that takes advantage of Japanese aesthetics?" The days of rough sketching repeatedly while imagining the movements, scale reflections, and sounds of weak and escaping fish. We also paid attention to the curve and straight line of the lure that drains water. As a result, it has an unstable design that makes it easy to hit the flutter and realizes the struggle and cramps peculiar to the weakened fish. If you wind the reel quickly, you can move the fish to escape. Also, by sticking to the flat sides and curves, it is possible to deliver the light of aluminum foil below the surface of the water. In addition, by adopting top-range water surface fishing (inspired by single bonito fishing) rather than underwater surface fishing like minnows, you can maintain your bite (without keeping your flocks alert). Was also successful.

Original atypical three-dimensional lip

In addition to realistic movement and reflection of light, we pursued a lure with a splash sound rather than a rattle sound in order to embody a more natural sound. This is the reason for making the original atypical lip. We thought that the splash sound requires resistance between the lure and water, so we researched a lip shape that allows a stable water pressure to flow into an unstable body that is easy to flatten. Also. Instead of the aluminum lips that were the mainstream at the time, we made transparent polycarbonate lips to make it look like a fish. We decided to name this lure the Butterfly Top (BT) because the shape of this original lip, which is made by bending it one by one by applying heat, looks like a butterfly.

About making BT lip

The production of original BT lip requires time and effort and skill. First of all, it begins by inking each pattern on a polycarbonate flat plate (transparent). Cut them one by one with a thread saw, then drill holes for screwing and heat this lip plate in boiling water. Lift up the hot lip, and bend it in three places at once while it is hot. There are some particulars in this bending method as well, which determines the sharpness of the BT's initial motion. In addition, the straight bending of the left and right wings allows the water pressure captured by the lip to flow well to the rear, so it is a noisy top minnow, but it also allows swinging by rod operation.

Synergistic effect of BT lip

The source of splash and bubbles in normal free winding reeling comes from the fact that the lip is attached to the body with a slight gap. In addition, the lip break in the part where the line eye appears has a synergistic effect, and it is designed to discharge finer bubbles backward. The combination of this BT lip and the left and right sides of the body tend to be created because the weight is concentrated in one place on the upper sloping model, which makes it easier to lose balance.

Features of BT series

When you see the BT lip and upper body, the first thing you feel is "The wind resistance is so great that it's hard to cast. I think that is the case. Certainly it may be weak against strong winds and cross winds, but I fish myself with a distance of 10 to 20 m without any stress.
Above all, aren't these BT actions that can't be expressed by Pencil Bait switch on the bite instinct of fish eaters? I think the reason why many users who use my BT a lot are repeaters is that they feel this kind of thing.
